Educational Qualification
You have to fulfill the qualification requirements laid down by the Institute of Banking Personnel (IBPS) in its notification. Here is the detailed educational qualification for the post of IBPS RRB Clerk in 2023.
- You should have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University or its equivalent.
- You should be Proficient in local language as prescribed by the participating RRB/s*
- Desirable: Working knowledge of Computers.
Nationality
The nationality criteria for the post of Clerk are defined in the official notification. You have to be either of the following before applying for this recruitment
- A Citizen of India
- A Subject of Nepal
- A Subject of Bhutan
- A Tibetan Refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the purpose of settling in India
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the purpose of permanently settling in India.
Number Of Attempts
There is no well-defined number of attempts set by the recruiting body, but the age criteria have been well established by the recruiting board. Therefore, a candidate can only apply for the IBPS RRB Clerk post within the given age limit. Thus, make sure you are between the age group of 18 to 28 years while applying for this exam.
Experience
The candidates who are applying for the IBPS RRB Clerk do not require any particular experience for this post. Instead, they must be fulfilling the eligibility criteria required for the IBPS RRB Office Assistant post.

IBPS RRB PO Age Limit
- The expected IBPS RRB PO Age Limit for various posts is given below.
- For Officer Scale- III (Senior Manager)- Above 21 years - Below 40 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.06.1983 and later than 31.05.2002 (both dates inclusive)
- For Officer Scale-II (Manager)- Above 21 years - Below 32 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.06.1991 and later than 31.05.2002 (both dates inclusive)
- For Officer Scale- I (Assistant Manager)- Above 18 years - Below 30 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.06.1993 and later than 31.05.2005 (both dates inclusive)

As there is no well-defined number of attempts defined by the recruiting body, but the age criteria have been well-defined by the recruiting board. For the case of officer class 1, the minimum age is 18 and a maximum of 30, so for a candidate preparing from an early age, the number of attempts is 12.
